Community Guidelines
Last updated June 2026. The spirit of taking part on The Monsoon Wire, a member of The Monsoon Wire.
The Acceptable Use Policy is the rulebook. These guidelines are the spirit behind it, in plainer terms.
What this place is for
The Monsoon Wire is a single-subject industry publication that tries to be both useful and worth returning to, written for the people who actually work in the trade. Taking part should make the record better: a sharper question, a genuine correction, a comment that adds a figure or a perspective a knowledgeable reader would respect.
What makes a good contribution
- A good question is one a working reader would also want answered. We gather recurring questions and answer the best of them in their own article, from sources.
- A good correction points at something specific that is wrong, a figure, a date, a company fact, and says what the record should be, ideally with a source. We check it against the named source ourselves; if it holds, we revise the page and note that it was revised following reader reports. We do not paste your wording in; we verify and rewrite.
- A good comment adds a fact, a figure, a perspective, or a question that helps the next reader. Polite disagreement is welcome and will not be removed for disagreeing.
How we moderate
- Everything is read before it appears, and re-read over time.
- We reject behaviour (spam, abuse, off-topic, unsourced claims dressed as fact), not viewpoints. A comment is not removed because it disagrees with us.
- We surface contributions on merit, not on flattery. We will not manufacture praise or hide criticism to make the room look rosier than it is.
- We credit a contribution (under your pseudonymous handle) only when it genuinely earned it, and never as a score to compete for.
What we ask of you
Argue with the figures, not the person. Cite where you can. Assume the other reader is acting in good faith. If you spot something wrong, tell us. If you think we moderated unfairly, write to [email protected].
